I love NYC. The busy streets, the immensely diverse culture, stores, people and our favourite honey roasted nut stands. Everything in NYC seems to move at a faster pace than the rest of the world, yet at the same time it all feels in sync and natural.

This past weekend my husband and I took a quick break from a really busy work week and took off to NYC. We never fail to pack in as much as we can on short trips. We visited the The Armory show, MoMA, and the new Freedom tower. All in all, it was a great quick trip, filled with lots of laughter, cool sights, yummy food and of course, sore feet.

Super exciting day today. I attended a Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator workshop hosted by Ladies Learning Code. Now I know not everyone would agree with me, but this was truly a great way to spend a Saturday (as a friend who joined me said) and learn a whole bunch at the same time. In a way of learning the programs, our project was to produce a “Personal Brand”. Above is the mood-board I created. I loved learning these programs - immensly powerful software - leaving me feel, pretty creative.

This past weekend we decided to visit the Evergreen Brick Works. Even with all the mud (our pup was in heaven), it was great to walk the grounds and soak up some history. Originally called the Don Valley Brick Works, this site produced bricks from 1889 to the 1980’s. Bricks from this site were used in constructing buildings around Canada and many prominent buildings in Toronto, such as Massey Hall and Old City Hall. It is such a pleasure to see these sites preserved. Above are some photos taken of the kilns, a peak inside them and the surrounding building.
